What We Say Is Not Always True

We all like to put the best foot forward.  We like people to see the side of us that looks good, acts right, and makes us appear as if we have it all together.  Unfortunately, we're often just trying to paint lipstick on a pig and thinking it a clown.

What we say isn't always true or as true as we lead ourselves to believe.  Now, I'm not claiming that we intentionally lie to others.  Maybe you could make the claim that we do and it would be correct.  I'm really saying that we show one side to the world and another that we show to only those we truly trust and feel safe around.

Sometimes you need to modulate how much you show to the world.  Not everyone needs to hear everything that has happened in your life.  It can easily be too much and overwhelm others.  There are times that the details are just not appropriate for everyone to hear.  There are boundaries you need to establish as well.  So, please don't mistake what I'm saying that we have to be an  open book 100% of the time.  Definitely not!

How true is the story we tell...

We just need to be mindful though of the story we tell and how true or not true it is.  Whether it is to our self or those that we love and trust, how much are we holding back?  How real and authentic is it?  How much are we projecting on to the things that really aren't the culprits?

It is easy to blame everything and anyone for our situation in life.  Believe me, there are some that definitely deserve the blame.  However, in the current moment we have, what we do and how we act is totally up to us.  How we view our life and our possibilities is now in our possession.  Yes, there are influencing factors in our life that weigh heavily on this, but in this current moment, it is up to us how we proceed.

Pushing away others...

Trying to hide the real self and say what we think others only want to hear is not necessarily the most helpful.  Especially if you're in a therapeutic relationship or even with an intimate partner, trying to alter truth and reality is not helpful.  The more authentic and open you can be in those cases, the more connection, love, and support that will be there.

Some days I want to go hide in my cave and when I do that, I assume and pontificate that all others hate me.  I proclaim that no one wants me and no one cares.  In those moments, when I'm hiding my true self and saying something different to those around me, I'm deepening the divide between us.  I'm pushing away the connection to others I so desperately need.

It took me a long time to begin to own up to what had taken place in my life.  Yes, it was horrible.  Yes, I went through childhood sexual abuse, torture and intense trauma.  The thing is, I kept it hidden from everyone, including myself and it nearly cost me my life.  I took my last few breaths before I woke up.

http://mindbodythoughts.blogspot.com/2016/10/what-we-show-to-world.html

If  you are hiding such deep pain from view, don't beat yourself up for it because that is part of your survival.  Instead, begin to see if there is someone you can trust enough and who is safe enough, that maybe you can reach out a little to them.  If they reach back with love and compassion, you've got someone that can help you climb out of the depths you are in.  If they reach back with judgment, keep looking for those that have love and compassion.  They are out there!

No matter what, work at being honest and authentic in your life.  Don't settle with what you try to tell yourself is true.  Instead, allow yourself to go in and find those ugly parts so you can let them go.  They are robbing you of energy and once you reclaim them, the energy that is freed up will help you go further than you ever realized was possible.

Does Your Word Mean Anything?

More and more these days, we are showing our true colors to everyone and we are not always realizing that we do this.  Often, there are many that will say one thing and then totally act as if they never said it.  This seems to be the pattern of how the "people in the media" do things and it is carrying over to everyone from every walk of life.

Does your word mean anything?  Do you say one thing today and then act as if you've never said it or that you didn't mean what you said?  Maybe you make a statement and then try to parse the words out in 50 different ways, focusing on the thought that you didn't mean for it to be there.

Yes, I know it is possible to try and explain things away later and make it sound as if our words were misconstrued, but when you say something with a particular intent, trying to go back on it later with a different meaning causes a trust discrepancy.

Growing up, I lived in a house where doublespeak was practiced.  What would be said one time, would mean something totally different the next time.  It was like the same statement or word would have two different meanings and there was no way you could figure that out at the time.  It could be used as a weapon against you regardless of how it was used.

Which one is true?

I see people who talk against or publicly endorse others, but then they switch their positions as if they were changing their socks.  Their word means hardly anything because how do you trust what they first said about a person or what they are now saying.  Which one is true?  If they changed their minds on the person that easily, how do you know if what they say will mean anything in the future.

Sure, I realize that sometimes after further evaluation we see things different than when we made particular statements.  However, I think we are too quick to speak and we really need to think more before we speak.  Just to speak up and get noticed and claim power is not a reason for endorsing or criticizing someone else.

If we want our word to mean anything, we have to be more careful of what we say.  If we are freely speaking, but not thinking, our word will not mean anything to anyone.  Yes, it might make for good publicity and getting in the spotlight, but long term, your base of support will be built upon loose sand.
 http://mindbodythoughts.blogspot.com/2011/02/mindful-words.html

Doublespeak is not helpful to anyone in the long term and while you might fool some of the people some of the time, you won't fool all of them all of the time.  Yes, that's a cliche', but it is so true.  People can and do see through doublespeak and the only way for your word to mean anything is to mean what you say.

Our word is what others hear from us.  If it is not backed up by a compassionate heart and a caring mind, it becomes as noise in the wind.  If it is not backed up by consistency, it becomes nothing more than a wave that comes into the shore and leaves again.  May we learn how to make our word mean something so we can help elevate humanity across this planet.

Social Media Drive- By

Most likely we've all seen this happen and more than likely we've done the same thing ourselves at some point.  I call it the social media drive-by.  It happens far too often by far too many that claim that all others do this, but not them.

It is when someone responds to a social media post without reading the whole thing and begins preaching to you about what you need to do.  It is when someone shares something, but has no idea what was in the social media post they share.  It is when someone shares something that is sensational but doesn't fully check it out to make sure it is true.  Since others share it, they might as well too.

No one uses an ounce of common sense it seems or stops to think about something.  They just willy nilly share the darn thing because it might be the most vital piece of information the world will ever know.  Unfortunately, most of the time with about 5 seconds of a google search, you can see how untrue the "greatest information piece" actually is.

When you can barely wait to tell the person how they should live their life and what they should do and who they should base their life beliefs upon, there's something a little off here.  After all, do you really know that person in one small little tweet or Facebook post? Do you really know them?

I honestly don't understand because I do try hard not to share stuff unless I've read it.  I try to make sure it is balanced and fair and as factual as it can be.  I try to make sure it adds value to the overall conversation of the day, rather than just inflame and sensationalize a topic.

Too many of the drive-by social media postings are so one sided and off balance that it is just sad.  They don't try to see the whole thing as they just click that mouse and go on to the next social media posting.  In many ways, it forms a picture of ignorance.  We are what we say and share to the world whether we realize it or not.

What if for one moment, you took a brief second and thought more about a response to someone on one of their social media postings?  What if for one moment, you considered what you were posting and asked yourself, "will this really enhance the world or just be more noise in a day?"

There is so much noise in a day and the social media drive-by adds to that.  We've already got enough of this on every TV news channel, radio station, and internet video.  Do we really need to add more to that?  Do we really need to be more of the problem than the solution?

A social media drive-by does very little in my view to help advance humanity.  It just continues the spreading of stuff that has no nutritional value for the mind or body.  It is just more of the same noise that has become a nuisance.

http://mindbodythoughts.blogspot.com/2016/05/finding-fault-in-others.html

We need to engage our brain cells more.  We need to engage our hearts more.  Spewing words for the sake of spewing words, does very little to help one another.  In fact, I think it not only hurts the mind and body, but I think it hurts the heart and essence of our souls.

Find a way to be balanced.  Find a way to be real.  Make your life count for something good, not succumb to the meaningless information that flows at a constant rate on the internet.  The world will thank you for it and if they don't, I will definitely thank you for it.

I Refuse

I'm writing this long before it is published, but it will most likely be relevant at any time it is posted.  In today's age, we have become hatemongers with one another.

We don't care about another point of view or belief.  We just demand that ours is the correct one and all others are wrong.

So today, I state the following.

Join with me if you plan to do the same.

I Refuse!

  • I refuse to partake in the hate-mongering that is thriving online.  If I cannot say something nice about someone, I will be silent.
  • I refuse to partake in the sensationalized drama that is spread through ridiculous social media postings with its only intent is to get you to click on something.
  • I refuse to partake in one-sided arguments where facts are omitted, but belief and opinion are the only arguments.
  • I refuse to propagate pictures and images and social media posts that demean any group or political ideology or persons that are different than me.
  • I refuse to spread false lies and innuendo just because someone on social media claims it is true.  I will check the facts out and if I cannot verify it, I will not spread it forward.
  • I refuse to pass claims along that appear to be valid, but have no basis in fact or ones that have been proven to be untrue.  I will take a minute to think before I forward and like a social media posting.
  • I refuse to add more screaming and yelling to the mix of social media, especially when no one is listening to anyone but themselves.
  • I refuse to live my life on social media because even though I may have connections, I know that it is the true friends you can see and talk to in life that make a big difference.
  • I refuse to get worked up about every social media posting just because the crowd has their pitchforks raised in the air and chanting in unison.

http://mindbodythoughts.blogspot.com/2016/07/i-wish-i-had-enough-love.html

Social media is a good way to help advance things in the world, but lately all I have seen is a place that is degrading to humanity.  The only way we can rise above all of this is if we don't propagate on that which we despise and hate.

If we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem.

You can expect my social media posts to be respectful, compassionate and hopefully ones that help others heal and advance their lives.  If I fail in this regard, please private message me and show me where I failed.  I will try to correct it immediately.

Missing The Healing Point

All too often, we as humans chase down the things that don't matter while proclaiming that we know all there is to know about healing.  It is really a sad testament to the human race at times.  We miss the healing point in life and instead we look at the flowers surrounding what true healing is all about in life.

I see this so many times in so many things where people chase the clouds in the sky rather than realizing they are missing out on looking at the sky.  In healing, I've seen far too many people jump from one new healing cure to another and all the time they are missing the true essence of healing.

I've seen people embrace things that really don't matter and then proclaim loudly that they have the only source to healing that there is.  They do it with gusto.  They do it with bravado.  There isn't a shortage of them.  In the olden days, they were called snake oil salesman.  I'm sorry if that offends anyone, but more often than not, it is true.

Fail to see what truly helps...

Then you have those that skip out on the true essence of what they have found to heal their life and they create a system to prove that it is true.  They miss out on the pure science and reputability of what really happens, while failing to see what it is that they do which truly helps.

In many modalities and belief systems, there is so much that helps people heal, but we get lost in the stuff that doesn't.  We look at all the peripheral things, instead of honoring the sacred part at the center of what we experience.

More than a quick 1-2-3 scheme...

I know, we all want glitz and glamour.  We want to act like we have the answers when maybe we've only discovered the one little piece of the puzzle.  We want to boil our stuff down into a quick 1-2-3 healing scheme that applies to everyone, regardless of their specific situations.

In all these things, we're missing the healing point.  The moment of healing that takes place before our eyes which is magical and unaltered.  It is the point where our ego is nowhere to be found, but the pure essence of creativity and oneness without judgement is limitless.

http://mindbodythoughts.blogspot.com/2015/12/surrender-into-healing.html

This is the point where we disconnect, but it is at that moment where we should summon all our resources.  It is how we apply all our resources that we go further into where the healing lies, not limit ourselves with what we do not know or understand.

True

That which we know to be true, may not actually be true.  If we cling to that which we think is true, we may be missing something much better for our life.  Let us yearn to open our eyes and discover what really is true, even allowing truth to change as the moments go by.

Before You Speak - THINK

Before You Speak, THINK
As seen on post shared through Dr. Wayne Dyer on Facebook, this was something I thought was worth passing on.  It was posted on the Facebook page of Reid Tracey, President and CEO of Hay House Publishing.  I'm not sure who wrote this, but it is good.  I'll gladly give credit to the author if I can find it out, or if you are the author, please feel free to leave a comment below.

Before You Speak THINK

T = Is it True?
H = Is it Helpful?
I = Is it Inspiring?
N = Is it Necessary?
K = Is it Kind?
