Debbie Gibson Wins $50,000 for Children International

Last night on the Apprentice, it was nice to see Debbie Gibson win. Yes, she won $50,000 for her charity which happens to be Children International. I have supported Children International for many years and I'm now on my second sponsored child. It is a wonderful organization that is truly legit and worthy. Check out the picture of my sponsored child below. His name is Erick and he is now 8 years old.

As far as the Apprentice goes, I really don't care much about it. The only reason I am following this show is because I knew she was playing to win money for Children International. Trump used to be someone I could look up to until he started in with his political tirades that I feel overstepped the boundaries of human decency.

Children International really tries to do as much with donations as they can. In fact, they try to get the local parents who are benefiting from the help to volunteer and help others. Their goal is not just about handing someone money, but truly trying to help the people in the world live better, cook more healthy and get a leg up in the world through education. In addition, they work on project of bringing fresh, clean water to these people and providing basic health care.  These are just a few of the ways that Children International works to make the world a better place.

I am not 100% certain how much of the dollar goes to actually helping the children but I know it is a very high percentage. Somewhere on their website or in their information, it is stated. They really do try hard to make the most use of the money donated and to get things that help the children and their families.

A few years ago, I had an opportunity to participate in a research panel with people from Children International. I met other sponsors as well and it warmed my heart to hear of some of their stories. Many of them had been able to travel and visit their sponsored child.

I know without a doubt, that it warms my heart every time I get a letter and a picture from my sponsored child. When he draws and colors a picture on it, it melts my heart. Getting to see photos from time to time, helps me see just how much he grows and changes.

  1. I honestly haven't watched the Apprentice for about 5 years now and I haven't missed it ;) But I'm glad a worthy cause has benefited despite my lack of interest in the show...
