Fear Of New Beginnings

New beginnings in life can be scary and full of challenges. We are so familiar with what we know in life, that the unknown and the unfamiliar are strangers to us. It is like we are traveling into a foggy night. It is a road we have never traveled. Often, our fears seem insurmountable.

Without new beginnings, our life would become dull and boring. We would not grow and evolve the way we were meant. We would be sitting on the sidelines staring at what was taking place, rather than being part of life.

Sometimes we feel pulled and pushed in certain directions. While these influences may be noble and positive, they may be holding us back in our lives. These influences can come in many shapes and sizes. It is up to each one of us to determine where we will place our feet on the bridge of the path we are walking.

It is fine if we do not necessarily know where to place our feet as we take a step. Part of our journey is not knowing what lies ahead. With courage, we allow ourselves to take a step in discovery. We allow ourselves to push past the fears that are lined up around us.

Taking the step gets us from the unfamiliar to the familiar in our lives. It is in the energy of that motion that we will find our power and strength to continue walking along our journey.

How Do You Recognize A Miracle

When I think of miracles, my mind fixates on Moses parting the red sea or someone dying of cancer who is suddenly healed. It is something grandiose that happens. A miracle is something that is so extraordinary that you can see it with no effort.

Miracles in my mind are more biblical and often for other people. They usually come to special people whose life is exemplary for others to follow. I am not certain miracles happen like they did in historic times. It seems that they are reserved for more rare occasions.

Of course, my theory may hold as much water as a fish net. In many ways, I may be limiting myself just because my concept of miracles is so limited. What if I truly do not understand what a miracle is? Would it not stand to reason that without being able to fully understand miracles that it would be next to impossible to see them?

A miracle may actually be something that happens more frequently then I realize. Miracles may be happening all around me. There is a good chance that miracles are not reserved for biblical, historic moments. I am beginning to wonder if I have overlooked many miracles in my own life. Just because my mind is not prepared for receiving them, does not mean that they are not taking place. As I write this, I realize just how little I truly know about miracles.

So, maybe my first step is to begin understanding what miracles are and how they show up. I may need to shed some of my own beliefs in order to discover how to recognize and see miracles. It may be beneficial for me, if I allow my mind to open up to miracles. Realizing I am worthy and a being of love and light might just begin to open my eyes. The point of discovery has begun. It is time to open my eyes, my heart and my mind.

Battered By Storms Of Life

I keep thinking that it is hard to stay positive at times when I feel battered by the storms of life. It feels like I am a ship caught in a stormy sea and the waves of life are battering me hard. I wonder if the ship can take it. Can I survive? I see the tall waves lashing high above the bow. The wind howls and the torrents of rain pierce my body. The ship bounces up and down turning side to side as the waves and wind unleash their fury upon me.

Yet, how many storms last day and night forever as if there is no end in sight? Experience has shown me that at some unknown moment, the storm will exit just as quickly as it entered my life. There will be no announcement as to the storm's departure.

While the storms of life are hitting me hard, the fears of anxiety and uncertainty surround me. There is no way to know if the ship is built well enough to handle the storm. There must be trust and faith that the ship is strong and able to withstand these forces of nature.

Often, it is easy to fear that which is unknown and uncertain and unseen. It feels like tomorrow may never make its arrival. In the midst of the storm, it feels as if there is no end in sight. In fact, trying to convince otherwise, is often met with disbelief as it falls upon ears that are not able to hear.

The next morning as the sun rises, the seas become calm and the winds find a gentle flow. The storm becomes a memory and is soon forgotten. The fears and uncertainty are replaced by thankfulness of having survived the storm. Of course, it will be understood that there will always be storms in life but there will be greater confidence that they too shall pass.
