Relaxing Day At The Ocean Video

This video was taken after a trip up the coast in Florida near Flagler Beach. It was a cloudy day, but still a nice drive.  I love this section of the beach because it almost feels remote even if other people are around it.

Just take a moment and watch the video.  It is only 2:23 minutes in length.

See if you can just let yourself get lost in the video and relax to the waves coming in and out.  See the clouds resting in the sky.  Think of something you want to let go of in this moment and just allow the waves to take it back out to the sea where it is diluted in billions of drops of water.  Breathe in the renewal that each wave brings and breathe out that which you no longer need.

Relaxing In The Best Moment Of The Day

The actors are all there.  The players often show up one by one.  Its that time of day.  A coolness of temperature exists.  A brightness of light shines through.  It is one of my favorite times of the day.  It is a time of relaxing in the best moment of the day.

During the morning from around the 8 am to 9 am time frame, I love lying in my hammock and relaxing.  It is my time of the day especially during the summer.  The coolness of the air as the wind drifts gently around me and the newness of the morning air are so refreshing.

The sun is breaking through strongly into the trees as a shadow behind the house.  The leaves on the trees glisten and change with brightness of color as the wind nudges them one way or another.  It feels like a lighter time of day.  It feels like a moment where all my cares are not in view.

Watching the birds fly around and play and chase one another is like one of the best unscripted movies I watch.  Some sit on the high wires basking in the sun.  Other birds chase each other zooming and zipping through the trees.  Their different colors emanate against the background of the green trees and blue sky.

Soothing Sounds Of Nature

One of the things that I like most is what you find outdoors.  Its the soothing sounds of nature that bring me to a place like no earthly sound can.  No music or man-made sound can match up to what we have in nature.

Today as I was walking through the woods, a beautiful stream of water coming out of the hills meandered along the walking path with me.  As it did, the sounds of water running over the rocks and trees and dirt was a beautiful sound.

It was refreshing and relaxing.  It was invigorating, but in a quiet and peaceful way.  It would grow louder in places and then quiet down.  The stream of water continued to flow towards the river ahead in a constant and consistent way as if everything was meant to be just as it was.

Dealing With Painful Moments In life

At Linnville Falls, NC
Painful Moments In Life
The other day, I experienced some moments that trigger me back to a time of pain in my life.  I'd rather not go into specific details in public but it has a lot to do with the trauma I suffered through in my past.  None of it is ever easy and while I have made progress, there are times when these things hit me like a freight train at top speed!

The holiday season are always a tough time for me, so any reminders and connections to the past make things much more difficult.  Yet, that's what happened the other day.  I'm still trying to find center in all of this and to be honest, my mind keeps questioning, why - at this time of the year, is this coming up?

Even though I want to act as if these things don't hurt me or control me or impact me, I would be lying if I stuck to that story.  I like to believe that I am free of these chains that bind me, but yet I know deep down inside just how much I feel them.  They are like daggers that are launched in an all out assault on me, and I'm left to defend my thoughts, my body and my emotions.

Ocean Waves Poem

This poem is one I wrote about the waves at the Ocean. The ocean is one of my favorite places and I could sit there all day long, every day of my life if there was nothing else to do.

As part of the new CD I just released, Relaxing Ocean Wave Sounds, this poem connects with the creation of this CD.

Relaxing Ocean Waves
*by Don Shetterly
----------------------------------------------------

Gazing into the horizon,
Before the deep blue sea.
Breathing in the air,
Salt mist all around.

Gazing into the sunlight
As it glistens on the sea.
Sparkles of sunlight
Dancing all around.

The dark blue sky
Hovers above the water;
A never- ending sight
Ocean stretching beyond.

My shoes comes off,
my feet touch the sand.
I feel the coolness
As my toes dig in.

Water splashes around
As waves abound.
Water comes and goes
With secrets unknown.

The sound of the ocean waves,
the roar of the sea,
Draws me deep within
To where I cannot see.

A day is but an hour
As I'm lulled to the clouds,
While ocean waves
Sing unto the sky.

Ocean waves
Majestic and free,
Soaring to the sky
From the deep blue sea.

Relaxing Ocean Waves

Here's a short little video of some relaxing ocean waves that I captured on video at Canaveral National Seashore in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

One of my favorite places to visit is the Atlantic Ocean. Just sitting on the beach, next to the water lulls me into a very relaxed state. Just to hear the sounds of the ocean, the waves, the birds and gaze into the deep blue sea is very relaxing and soothing to me.

Often when I visit the ocean and hear the ocean waves, time flies by quickly. Before long, an hour or two has passed and it feels like mere minutes.

I love just walking up and down the beach next to where the waves and surf come in. Just feeling the water on my feet and watching the sea life run about, gives me a sense of awe and a feel of completeness.

When I can find areas of the beach that have very few people around, I really enjoy just being out in nature and being alone with my thoughts. There is no better way to spend a day when you just want to relax, think about things or enjoy a quiet moment of rest.

If you are not able to visit the ocean, than I hope my short little video will give you a taste of what I experience.

Relaxing Piano Music For Valentine's Day

Just a break for today from our regular programming to let you know (in case you did not already know this) that I have some very relaxing piano music available for sale. It is music that I created and is extremely relaxing, perfect for those quiet moments alone or when you are with that special someone in your life.

Of course Valentine's Day is Monday, Feburary 14, 2011, so guys, you've been told and warned! You can't say you didn't know it was coming. Don't wait until the last moment to plan a way to show the one you love, just how much you do love them. I'm not saying you have to go out and spend a load of money but see if you can't think outside the box and find something that really shows just how much you do love them. Give them something deep from your heart.

If you need help in that area, you're more than welcome to go and download some of my music on iTunes, Amazon or many other digital download sites. It is truly relaxing, peaceful and all of my music is played deep from within my heart.

If you go to my website, www.donshetterly.com, you can listen to a few sound clips on the front page. There are links to iTunes, Amazon, CDbaby.com, Napster and Rhapsody if you wish to purchase and download it or you can buy the physical CD on Amazon.

An Ocean Meditation

Sitting at the ocean, watching the waves come in and listening to the sounds is a relaxing and energizing experience. There is something about water that acts as an agent of transformation in our life.

Just picture the sun shining through the deep blue sky. A few clouds appear and others drift in and out. The birds fly by as if they are watching out over the shoreline. A few birds run around on the hot sand hoping to catch a meal that appears.

The breeze blows gently as the roar of the ocean waves making their way in to the shore, crash against the water return to sea. The ripples of water flow over the varying heights of the ocean floor. Patterns of many colors appear one minute and are gone the next as a wave washes them away.

People run and play as the water mesmerizes time. For time, at the ocean never runs out. There is as much of it as there are grains of sand. A plane flies above and a boat sails by but it seems to all if time is of no concern. There is no worry about another day. It is that moment which becomes the joy of life.

The tide goes out showing a part of the ocean floor that is not always seen. It gives way to an enlarged beach as tiny pools of water heat up in the sun. Then, as the tide comes in, the water deepens and the beach seems to shrink as if it is saying goodbye. What appeared before, is now lost in time. It is like it was there but no longer seen in that moment. When it returns another day, its shape and size will be different than the day before.

Feeling, hearing and jumping into the power of the greeting waves, brings the energizing power of time to the shore. As the water rushes back to the ocean, it pulls everything with it at such a force. The strength of the water is something to observe with awe.

Yet, throughout a day at the beach, time stands still. Our worries and concerns dwarf in comparison to the never ending body of water. Our eyes are mesmerized by the sun dancing with the wind on the water. Our bodies, minds, and souls are refreshed, energized and relaxed at the sights and sounds.

For me, there is a spiritual connection. If I have any problems or concerns, I know that the ocean is big enough to carry them away. It brings in what I need and it is happy to take away that which I do not need. It reminds me of a larger force within my word. The ocean gives me a sense of being just one person in a very big world. It helps show me that no matter what I am connected to, something much larger than myself is present.

The ocean is a place of retreat for my body as my mind wrestles with life's difficult moments. it is where time stands still when it is rushing by. It is where I feel renewed in my mind, body and connected to my soul.

There is something to the ocean that is mysterious and inspiring. It is not something that can be explained but must be experienced. The connection is to something greater that just accepts me in the moment while it demands nothing in return. It just allows me to live in that moment with no strings attached.

A day at the ocean is wonderful. My life is filled with renewal, as I offer all my concerns and worry to the waves. I breathe in the energy as I feel the power of the sun. I give thanks as the birds run and play.

For the ocean is my rock, my transformation and the view of so much more. Without it, life would not seem complete. I am thankful for it.
