Laughter One Of Life's Sweet Elixirs

From a favorite book of mine, here is a quote on laughter

Laughter is one of my favorite roses to plant.  I know with certainty that I would never have made it this far without being able to find laughter when there's nothing funny.  Seriously, laughter is one of life's sweet elixirs. - page 144 You Are The Answer by Michael Tamura

Sometimes we can get so serious in life that our body and our mind suffocate in boredom.  It is through laughter that our body can shed stress, worries, frustration, and moments of despair.  Join me in a laugh today.  Find something funny to laugh at or create a moment on your own.

Answers To Life

You Are The Answer
By Michael Tamura

All too often, we think if we don't have the answers for our life in this very moment, that we're doomed! It is easy to expect immediate solutions because we are so taught this in our society. If you want cash, you go to the ATM. If you have pain, you either go to the corner drug store or doctor and demand an answer that will alleviate the pain. If you want something to eat, you head to the fast food restaurant.

However, unlike many modern conveniences, answers and spiritual growth in our life is not an instant process. Please don't get me wrong, because it likely could be instant. Most of the time though, we have different experiences in our life, so that we gradually grow into the answers we need. It is the process of discovery where we learn so much.

Just as Michael Tamura stated on page 218 of his book, You Are The Answer, "spiritual growth is neither a race nor a contest. We do not get credits in heaven for suffering greater pain or for putting on a better performance."

All too often, we just focus on the things that really don't matter and yet, we fail to see the things that do matter. It is easy to gravitate towards the neon lights and shiny stars, but in the end, if we seek out the illusions, we'll be left with another day and neon lights that are switched off.

Don't Let Facts Stand In The Way Of Truth

Don't Let Facts Stand
In The Way Of Truth

Let me paraphrase one of my favorite books by Michael Tamura, You Are The Answer (page 172). Facts are not the truth because you can use facts to support your position, and yet you can still be dishonest. Facts of course are created from the past, while truth is here and now.

I still remember one boss I had in a major agriculture company many years ago. His idea in dealing with people was that if he could convince people of something, than it was true. At least that is what he purported to be the belief in his own mind. At the time, I struggled to believe him, and I still find his statement to be strange.

Believing In Our Memories

Believing In Our Memories

In the book, You Are The Answer, by Michael Tamura, states on page 168 that "we have such power and ability to make these pictures come alive that we end up believing in them more than we do in ourselves". While this may sound like a simple truth, it is much more real in our every day life than we may want to admit.

We all have memories and we form those memories out of pictures or images of these moments imprinted with emotions when they were created. The memory pictures of our mind are created beginning at an early age and continue to our current moment. Often these previous memory pictures play over and over throughout our day.

Wake Up Moments In Life

You Are The Answer
Wake Up Moments
In Life
One of my favorite books that I am reading right now is "You Are The Answer" by Michael Tamura.  I just love his insight, but more importantly, I like how he states things.  It tickles me that he claims he is not a writer and writing does not come easy, but his words state some difficult concepts in easy to understand terms.  This blog post is based upon an adaptation of a passage from this book on page 52.

Those moments in our life that wake us up, also known as a wake up call usually stop us dead in our tracks!  They get our attention and these moments are almost like a baseball bat between the eyes.  You cannot miss them no matter what you do and even if you try to avoid them, they are unavoidable.  If you are able to go through the wake up call and still remain enslaved to your fears and unconscious life, you can almost bet that another wake up call will attempt to get our attention until we open up and listen.  A wake-up call helps

Top Book Reviews, Dec 2011 - You Are The Answer

You Are The Answer
Michael Tamura
If you would like to see other book reviews in this series, please check out the blog post on May 4, 2011.  On the 5th of every month, I post a new book review (or that is the plan at least) of books that I have been reading.

Many months ago, I was browsing through a Barnes And Noble bookstore and came across this book, You Are The Answer.  The book was one of those that really caught my attention on the shelf.  I purchased the book and added it to my stack of books to read.  Finally months later, I began to read it and I am so glad that I did.

This book is filled with common sense, down to earth thoughts about how to truly find yourself in life.  The subtitle of this book is Discovering And Fulfilling Your Soul's Purpose.  I had never heard of Michael Tamura until this point but what he says in this book makes sense.  It is written in such a plain language and with easy concepts so you really get what he is talking about in the book.

Some of my favorite sections in the book include some of the following pages.

Book List

I just ordered these books the other day and am anxious to get them. They cover some topics that I'm very interested in and so I thought I would share them with everybody. Sometimes I don't find books that interest me and then lately, these just sort of jumped off the shelf at me. It is usually when this happens that the books really impact me a lot. Please feel free to browse through these and let me know if there are books you are reading that I might like as well. I'm always on the lookout for good books.

The Highly Sensitive Person
by Elaine N. Aron

From Amazon Review: Are you an HSP? Are you easily overwhelmed by stimuli? Affected by other people's moods? Easily startled? Do you need to
withdraw during busy times to a private, quiet place? Do you get nervous or shaky if someone is observing you or competing with you? HSP, shorthand for "highly sensitive person," describes 15 to 20 percent of the population. Being sensitive is a normal trait--nothing defective about it. But you may not realize that, because society rewards the outgoing personality and treats shyness and sensitivity as something to be overcome.
