Up until yesterday, I was an affiliate for Blendtec. I thought they had a superior product and in fact, our Blendtec Blender has gone many years. It works well and is something I use almost everyday, so I recommended it.
Unfortunately as of yesterday, Blendtec terminated my affiliate account with no warning and without reason. So far, they have not taken the time to reply to me with why they took this action. As far as I know, I've not done anything wrong.
The commissions that I had earned with them are gone and they have blocked me from seeing any history with this or any data. Amazing how they just take the money you earned without a shred of decency.
Blendtec recruited me a few years ago to be an affiliate, so how I went from that point to this lack of respect is beyond my comprehension. The previous head of their affiliate at least tried to help you unlike the one they have now who could care less.
However, with these affiliate companies, they hold the cards and if you sneeze wrong, they'll drop you like a rock. They don't care if they explain anything to you or not. They just treat affiliates very badly.
One of the things I despise online with affiliate places is how they force you almost to write glowing reviews about their products as if there are no deficiencies. If you try to read the reviews online, you won't see the actual reality and truth. You'll see the one sided viewpoint.
I really try to be honest in all that I write and share what works for me. If it is a product you see me post on this blog, you can bet that I use and one that I love to use. I don't play the games and maybe that is what got me in trouble here. I don't know. Unless they respond, I'll never know.
In the meantime, I will be working to scrub my site of their links. If they don't deem me as valuable to their organization, I don't want them associated with me. Please feel free to buy any other products than Blendtec and support places that treat people with respect.
In the future, I will not be using or recommending Blendtec products.
If a company such as this is going to treat its people in this way, there is no value in continuing the relationship.

Easy Red Pepper Hummus Recipe
Recently I got the Blendtec Mini Twister Jar and I love it! I was thinking about getting the NutriBullet but since I already had the Blendtec, the Mini Twister jar made perfect sense.
I love hummus but when you buy the commercial stuff in the store it usually has garlic or onions in it. Those two items make me sick. These days it is getting harder and harder to find food without garlic and onion.
I adapted the recipe from what was displayed in the book that came with the Mini Twister Jar. If you want to put garlic in it, feel free or to try other variations. This is just the starting point.
Ingredients:

I had never used Tahini paste before so I went on Amazon and found this product which seemed pretty inexpensive. Two jars were around $10 if I remember correctly. The paste tasted good and seemed to be just sesame seed paste with nothing else. It worked great for this hummus recipe.
I had one good-sized lemon and from that lemon, I got about 6 to 8 TBSP of fresh lemon juice just by squeezing it in a little handheld juicer.
Olive oil may not be the best, but use whatever you prefer and see how it tastes. The cayenne pepper was very strong, but it gave it a good kick. The original recipe called for roasting the red pepper, but I did not see any need to do this and red bell pepper is very healthy for you. It is full of phytochemicals.
I love Blendtec and it works very well. This little mini twister jar is ideal. It is the right size and easy to clean out especially with the special spatula that came with it.
I don't think I would want to make more hummus than this recipe made because I want to keep it fresh.
Since it was so easy to make, it wouldn't take much for me to make some more at any time.

Not All Smoothies Are Equal
Some days I read stuff that comes through my social media feed and I do the eye roll. Recently I read a post about using all kinds of different ingredients in your smoothies that I would really question. Of course, it didn't take me long to see what company "was pushing" their products in the smoothies.
Maybe the ideas that these people are pushing have merit. Unfortunately, if you started asking them questions about what each particular thing did and why they included it, I've got a feeling the answers would be shallow at best. On top of that, I'm not so sure some of these things put in a blender and blended at high speed is necessarily a good thing.
On top of that, I saw "frozen fruit" or other similar types of ingredients being put into the blender. Okay, if you just want to have something that tastes good, go ahead. If you want your smoothie for healing abilities and nutrition, then it isn't the best thing. Freezing foods changes and alters the chemical structure.

My Flu Shot
I know, I know, not everyone will agree with me on this. Some will think it is hogwash. Some will think it is too simple. Yet, some will think it is all just hocus pocus new age mumble jumble. Yet, my flu shot doesn't come in a syringe. Its something I do daily.
My daily flu shot is a whole food smoothie. Please don't get this mixed up with juicing or green drinks or ice cream smoothies. This is a WHOLE FOOD smoothie. I've written about this at other times on this blog, but since 2009 we have been doing these every day.
The one thing I really notice about whole food smoothies is how it helps digestion. If we want to get more graphic, it helps bowel elimination. At a time when constipation and poor bowel movements seem to be epidemic, this greatly enhances it. There is nothing like good and healthy elimination to really keep you feeling better. Hopefully, you're not too embarrassed because this is something we should be able to talk about among humans.

Making Whole Food Smoothies
I learned about this from Jeff Primack in a Qigong conference several years ago and have been doing this every day since then. This is a video I created of how we make our Whole Food Smoothies. We use a Blendtec Blender. For Whole Food Smoothie recipes and information on Jeff Primack, go to his food based healing website at qigong.com/food-healing .

Easy Healthy Pancakes
Lately I've been playing with making something without all the bad stuff for breakfast. I have been experimenting with making healthy pancakes from oatmeal that are super easy. You might need a good quality blender for this, but we use our Blendtec High Speed Blender. I'm not sure how this would work in a regular one.
To make these easy and healthy pancakes, I take 1.5 cups of oatmeal, 1.25 cups of water and put it in my blender. Then, I add whatever fruit it is that I like. I have used blueberries or a banana or strawberries. I like all three and I'm sure other fruit would work.
Once I've combined them in the Blendtec blender, I select the button that says "batter" on it and I let it blend up through its routine. Most of the time when I do this, it thickens fairly quickly so I often pour it back in a measuring cup. It makes about 2 cups of batter and I can get about 10 pancakes out of it.
