Need A Good Webhost for Wordpress?

Web Hosting

I know this is off topic!  Unfortunately, to keep the lights on, I have to do a little bit of this.  So, I only promote products that I love and use, and that help me.  This one happens to be a new web hosting company for my WordPress sites.

Lately, I've been having major issues with a webhost that I've been with for many years.  Most of the time, the webhost was good (LunarPages).  In the past six months to a year, they just weren't cutting it for me.  Their service was hit or miss and more miss than hit.  The performance of their servers was really dragging my sites down.

I tried to work with them.  I really did, but the support responses were so poor that I felt frustrated.  I signed up for their managed shared support and thought that this would help.  Instead, I had someone try to lecture me about something on which they were flat wrong.  Fortunately a supervisor stepped in and helped in that one situation.

Anyway, I got tired of continual problems, lack of support, and performance issues on my sites.  I started to look elsewhere, and fortunately, I found a place called SiteGround.com.

I was nervous to switch, but when LunarPages messed up my account so bad at one point that I could not access my site, it was the last straw.  I made the switch to SiteGround.com, and I have not regretted it.

LunarPages did contact me after I left negative feedback and reviews about them asking if they could do anything to keep me and some clients as a customer.  Unfortunately, I had tried to reach out to them many times, and they dismissed me, so in my mind it was too late.  Plus the server performance was so much better for me that there was no way I was going back.

What I Love About SiteGround.com

  1. The speed of my website and the WordPress dashboard are outstanding.  When I go to my site, it loads quickly.  There is no going to get a cup of coffee and waiting till it loads scenario.
  2. Customer support has been excellent.  No, let me rephrase that.  They have been outstanding.  Not only did they follow up making sure I had my new account set up correctly, but they also helped when I had one thing I was not sure how to do.  In seven minutes on live support chat, the customer rep had the issues solved and corrected.
  3. When I run GTMetrix.com on my account and start to look at page speed and performance, instead of my site taking 10 seconds to load, it now loads in about 2 seconds.  It is the same site, just transferred from LunarPages to SiteGround.com

An Extra Bonus With SiteGround.com

If you want to, you can apply for an affiliate account, which I did.  In fact, if you click on the banners or links here, you'll be helping me out.

But that's not all!  Even if you do not want to be an affiliate, they have a referral code, and for every friend that signs up for hosting with SiteGround, you get three months free on your hosting plan.  A nice little extra if you ask me!

See For Yourself

Don't just take my word for it, check out SiteGround.com and see for yourself.  I've been extremely impressed with this place, and I'm in the process of migrating all my stuff over.

I did sign up for the Go Geek plan with them because I have big plans for upcoming website development.

Terminated on Blendtec Affiliate Program

Up until yesterday, I was an affiliate for Blendtec.  I thought they had a superior product and in fact, our Blendtec Blender has gone many years.  It works well and is something I use almost everyday, so I recommended it.

Unfortunately as of yesterday, Blendtec terminated my affiliate account with no warning and without reason.  So far, they have not taken the time to reply to me with why they took this action.  As far as I know, I've not done anything wrong.

The commissions that I had earned with them are gone and they have blocked me from seeing any history with this or any data.  Amazing how they just take the money you earned without a shred of decency.

Blendtec recruited me a few years ago to be an affiliate, so how I went from that point to this lack of respect is beyond my comprehension.  The previous head of their affiliate at least tried to help you unlike the one they have now who could care less.

However, with these affiliate companies, they hold the cards and if you sneeze wrong, they'll drop you like a rock.  They don't care if they explain anything to you or not.  They just treat affiliates very badly.

One of the things I despise online with affiliate places is how they force you almost to write glowing reviews about their products as if there are no deficiencies.  If you try to read the reviews online, you won't see the actual reality and truth.  You'll see the one sided viewpoint.

I really try to be honest in all that I write and share what works for me.  If it is a product you see me post on this blog, you can bet that I use and one that I love to use.  I don't play the games and maybe that is what got me in trouble here.  I don't know.  Unless they respond, I'll never know.

In the meantime, I will be working to scrub my site of their links.  If they don't deem me as valuable to their organization, I don't want them associated with me.  Please feel free to buy any other products than Blendtec and support places that treat people with respect.

In the future, I will not be using or recommending Blendtec products.

If a company such as this is going to treat its people in this way, there is no value in continuing the relationship.

Endorsements and Affiliates

There is far too much online that is just about getting rich.  We all know it and we all see it.  I would estimate that at least 80% of it is not worth your time to read, be involved with or get interested enough to inquire about the place.  Yet, it doesn't stop everyone from lapping up the milk bowl of affiliates and endorsements and reviews.

Over the years, I have been asked to endorse and become an affiliate with every product under the sun.  Yes, I know I get a high volume of views on this blog, but the views are because I have integrity and I write about things from my heart that matter.  If it was just about being an affiliate, this blog would be nothing more than what everyone else does.

I've had so many people want me to endorse their book, their product, their website, their idea and I'm sorry, but so many of them just don't rise to the level they need to for me to be come interested enough to do this.  Most of the time I have passed.

Promoting Things On This Blog

I get asked all the time to promote things on this blog.  While the products and ideas may be good, I am careful as to what I offer up here.  I don't want to be a blog where it is just about marketing things for other people.  I mean, that's not really the purpose of why I write.

Yet, I get people who just think that this is the sole purpose of anything on the internet.  I had someone asking me to promote something as an affiliate and I have no clue what the product is.  They were ready to send me "information" and "copy" that I could put in a blog post.  In my mind, I'm wondering how I could justify promoting something I don't even know.

There are people who want me to promote products because somehow they think that if I write about healing, I want to push all kinds of "product".  This could not be any further from the truth.  Yes, I've promoted some products on this blog, but there is a catch.  It has to be something that I found and when I did, it was extremely helpful to my life.
