The Magic Pill Of Healing

All too often we chase healing modalities and pills and procedures as if they are the cure all.  Sure, they help at times and they have helped me.  However, there is much more to healing than getting lost in the cures and losing site of what really makes a difference.

Far too easily, we give up our own innate healing power to beliefs, opinions, and the latest fad of the day.  Sometimes these things are not proven or tested, but everyone believes they work.  Sometimes they do work.

I recognize fully that we cannot always quantify what works.  It is not always because it cannot be tested, but sometimes we just don't have the methods to test it.  Sometimes our knowledge has not advanced in our human civilization to quantitatively make a statistical conclusion.  I know there are people who think if it can't be tested in a scientific laboratory, that you discard it.  This is short sighted.

On the other hand, if you accept every premise that comes along without careful evaluation, you will set yourself up for chasing pretty rainbows as treatment options.  There are many things out there that people think work, but they don't even begin to understand what the "essence" of the modalities is or what truly works.

A moment of pause...

If you can't repeat it from person to person, the magic pill of healing should bring you a moment of pause.  If you become part of a group think, even if it is subconscious and you believe something is happening when it isn't, it should bring you a moment of pause.

Yes, there are elements within healing modalities that work, but far too often we build a belief system of rules and procedures around that.  We end up obliterating what is truly there that is healing in lieu of the human ego with its desire to control.

Feeling it in the body...

You can chase magic pills of healing all day long.  You can give your power up to others, but if you don't go in and connect the experience, the thoughts, and the emotions that arise with where it is felt in the body,  you're working with half a deck. There are far too many snake oil salesman selling a tonic that has no medicinal value.  The key emphasis being on feeling it in the body!

We have so much more within us that we ignore.  We have far more ability to understand and find the answers we need, then we ever allow ourselves to admit.  We have the ability to enact so much physical change in our body, but we subscribe to the fears we are born with and are taught in our life.

http://mindbodythoughts.blogspot.com/2015/12/scatter-approach-to-healing.html

It is when we go into those fears and recognize our innate ability to heal that we find true healing.  We see at that moment what are just magic pills of healing and which are tonic sold by snake oil salesman.

There are just far too many things out there that don't pass the sniff test, let alone could stand up to the rigors of repeatability.  We may think our "modality" stands the test of time, but if it doesn't continue to evolve and change and grow, then please challenge what you think and believe.  Don't mislead others even if you're misleading yourself.  It harms people.

In many ways, if you want something to work, more than likely it will.  In the same manner, if you don't want something to work and think it is puff and stuff, than that will most likely be your outcome.  Choose wisely, because your own healing could depend upon it.

Does The Polling Data Make Sense?

I realize this may be a little off the beaten track of my blog, but in some ways it is right on track.  After all, we use polling data to base our decisions on in this country especially and we solidify group think based upon the polling data.

Unfortunately all too often, polling data does not make sense.  It does not add up!

When I was in statistics classes, one of the things I was taught was to look at your data sample and the results to see if it makes sense.  Does it add up?  Do the conclusions mean what they say or are you missing something.

These days in politics and the media, polling data results are published ad nauseum with very little basis in reality.  No one stops to look at the data and see if the results really make sense.  Yes, I know that politics and the media have agendas, but this does nothing but solidify group think.

How you can skew the data....

It isn't just the politics and media that do this.  Sometimes it is leading research organizations and companies that stand to profit from the results.  I worked in some agriculture feed companies at one time and it was always amazing how each company did their own research and showed the competitors product was consumed less and offered less results than their product.  Each one would say the same thing.  How on earth can you skew the data so much to glean the results you want.

I've seen this happen in many products that are pushed on the market.  Research is done and it looks legit, but as I have found, much of the data does not prove the end result.  Somehow these companies make it out to be proof that backs up their products, but there's some devious number crunching going on.  Sorry if you are offended because you're one of those people that cook the books and make water into pumpkin soup.

No one questions what they share

However, the bigger nightmare is how people gulp these things down and share them on social media.  They think they are just as true as if I told you the body is made up of 100% air.  No one questions what they share.  Very few actually read and study what they share.  Online social media companies bank on you doing this because that is how they make their money.  If you want to be a respected member of society, don't you owe your friends and followers more than that?

Let's get back to the point of polling data making sense.  Suppose you come to my house and sample some data using my cats as an example.  If you were studying how many cats are orange and not orange, you would conclude that 50% of cats are orange.  If you were a company or politician or the media trying to promote your own agenda, you would claim that to be the truth.  However, all you would have to do is go to some other houses near where I live and the results and conclusions would not hold up.

This is exactly what we do in our day and age.  We sample data in the simplest and unethical manner possible and then we report it as fact.  Once it is reported, then everyone shares and likes and passes it on as if it were the truth.  No one ever asks, does the polling data make sense.

I hope that we as a people of this country and planet can learn to offer something more to our fellow travelers on this journey.  If we could only be honest and trustworthy by offering up solid evidence based data, then we might just have a chance to evolve this world in a forward motion.

The following blog post is not necessarily about the subject of polling data, but it is an offshoot of this discussion.  You may want to read, "Following Blind Allegiance".

Question Of The Day

Do you pass on polling data and research data that you have not fully evaluated and read?

Traffic Angels

I just have to share something about angels (actually two things). A good friend of mine that is an Angel Therapy Practitioner has told us if you want to test things a little and see if angels really communicate (if you feel you can communicate with angels), than one thing she does is when she’s in traffic, she asks them sometimes to clear up space around her. She also talks about Parking Angels that help her find parking places to. (hey it does work) I’ve done this a couple of times but yesterday morning on the way to a job, the interstate was very packed with traffic.

So I asked the angels to help keep the traffic flowing and make it easier for me (I don’t recall exactly how I asked that). So for most of the way to the place I was going, there was this big gap between the front and back of me with no cars or very few. Please see the picture above that I included to show this and there was at least this same distance behind me that you see in front of me in this picture. Another proof of how this worked – it took me about 15 less minutes to get to the site on this morning than it did the day before and it was almost exactly the same time with the same amount of traffic. On top of that, another guy I was working with lives pretty close to me and he got there much later to the site. His comment about traffic that it was much worse on this day than the previous day.

So another thing with the angels is that I was getting the sense that my 3 day job was going to finish early and I know I needed the income. However, I also got the sense that if it did something else would fill in the gap. (this was yesterday morning before I arrived at the job site). So just like I sensed, the job was finished on day two. Then this morning, I overslept but saw a phone call and it was for an easy type of job today (at the last minute of course) that would pay well. (just what I’m asking the angels for). The only thing is, I was about 30 seconds to late calling the lady back and she had just lined someone else up. So I thought that was pretty cool even though I was a little too late in the call back. So I need to refine my request and say for this easy type of good paying jobs to have a little more notice and not be at the last minute.

The International Angel Day workshop I went to – the one message I got from the workshop was to spend time each day listening to my angels and asking them for help in whatever I needed. I’m not sure if I have to be shown this lesson in any more of a dramatic way than I have been with these two examples. I sometimes just don't stop and listen to what they are telling me like I should.

And once again, it proves to me that I'm not all alone in this world like I sometimes think I am. I hope this gives you as big of a smile as it has given me.
