Influencing The World Through Our Thoughts

In the book, The Field, it describes research from all over the world that human can interact with and affect various things.  From machines, to biological organisms, thoughts and other humans, there are many studies that prove a human can have an influence on other things without direct contact or physical manipulation, through their thoughts.  Analysis showed that the success rate was around 37% which may not sound high until you factor in the expected result of 5% from chance. (Pg, 133, The Field)

It is also interesting to note a few other points in the book.  People that needed to be influenced by someone else such as in the case of calming them down or focusing their attention, were more receptive and open to the influence of others.  In many ways, the channel for this might have been more open in people who were having difficult moments, than they would otherwise.  I believe it is built into us biologically as humans to need one another and for humans to help and lift one another up.

Hear The Music Of The Stars

From the book, The Field, here is one of my favorite sections on page 88.

Johannes Kepler famously claimed in his book Harmonice Mundi, that people on earth could hear the music of the stars.  At the time, Kepler's contemporaries thought him crazy.  It was four hundred years before a pair of American scientists showed that there is indeed a music of the heavens. - The Field

Sometimes I hear music and have no idea where it coming from.  Perhaps, I hear the music of the stars.  In the movie, The Shift, there was a segment depicting a piano player that would play the music that he heard.  In all reality, this is the same thing I do.

Book Reivew on The Field by Lynne McTaggart

The Field
by Lynne McTaggart

This book is one that I have been wanting to read for some time.  I heard about it when I was in massage school, but never pursued it on my book list.  Of course, I've got so many books that I want to read and it seems like there is never enough time to do that.  The Field is an excellent book.

The main thing I like about the book so far is how it gets you to think beyond the paradigms that you hold on to.  It really does push you to think beyond the box and beyond your mind.  While the information is presented in an easy to read manner, I do find it difficult to fully understand the concepts at times.  The concepts are deep and involved.  I'm not sure there is an easier way to explain some of these concepts, so the author probably does the best job that anyone can do.  I may find myself going back and reading this one again.

I do like how real life examples and stories are used detailing the history of various discoveries.  It really engages you in the process and helps show the details behind the conclusions.  This is not information that you would learn in a normal science based course most likely.  In fact, I have never heard of some of these concepts until now.

Top Book Reviews For Feb 2012

Top Book Reviews
Feb 2012

This month's top book reviews is going to be different. I am sure I could find some book that would fit in with the mind body and valentines day, but that isn't how I operate most of the time. Instead, I'm sharing three book titles that I have just purchased and are now on my reading list.

The first book that I'm anxious to read is by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. The title of this book is "My Stroke Of Insight". I saw her on a show on the OWN channel where Oprah was talking to her about a stroke she had been through in her life. I imagine it is very difficult to recover from a stroke and I know one other lady who is a healer, who recovered in natural ways from a stroke. While I've never been through a stroke, I experienced paralysis and virtually a complete memory loss. I'm always excited to learn about how others have dealt with this and see what I can learn. I've even more excited when I can learn the inner workings of the brain. This will be the first of the three books that I am planning on reading just as soon as I get finished with my current one.
