Opposing Forces

Every day, I see headlines and hear things that make me cringe.  Yes, I realize the media is about sensationalism because if they were not, no one would watch their reporting or read their news.  They are just the medium to highlight the opposing forces in this world.  It isn't just confined to the media either, but people who I interact with in my day.

I'd like to say that this is the worst it has ever been, but that might be nothing more than a sensational statement.  People who have lived much longer than me have most likely seen things much worse.  Yet, in my life span, this does feel like we are nothing more some days than opposing forces.

It almost feels like no matter what one person says, another will completely and vehemently disagree with them, calling them names and questioning their very nature of existence.  It doesn't matter what the issue is or what side of the issue anyone is on.  It just continues day after day after day.

For the most part, I don't watch much news reporting because of this.  I do read headlines and to be honest, that's often more than enough to see.  Not only is the reporting done so poorly these days, but bias runs as deep as it can.  Facts are interspersed in the bias to make it appear that it has substance.

With all this said, the opposing forces in our world seem to be at an all time high.  No one really listens to another.  No one seems to respect another.  Everyone is just a pawn in the game of power, control, greed, and one-upmanship.

There is a callousness to what is said these days and often it is the "wow factor" that gets the attention.  We've got vlogging and texting and tweets and facebook posts to proclaim our disdain for everyone around us.  It doesn't even have to be true these days, people just make the statements and take little responsibility for what they say.

Through all of this, we are losing our humanness.  We are losing our dignity and respect for one another and for ourselves.  We are destroying and obliterating the world as we know it by becoming opposing forces.

Yet, it seems like the world is trying to evolve and grow.  The universe is desiring a higher and greater consciousness, but opposing forces seem to be shattering any gains that are made.

If we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem.  If we immerse ourselves in the thoughts of the media pundits and news reporting, it only serves to reinforce our side of the opposing forces that we are on.

To make this world a better place, we need to do better.  We need to begin to see each other as a human, not just a user name on a social networking site.  We need to begin to accept ourselves while we learn to accept others, so that every stranger out there isn't someone that we should fear or flee from in the world.

Its all up to each one of us to do our part and no one can dictate that to us.  Unfortunately at the moment, those that are doing the screaming are the only ones being heard.  I don't believe we all have to endure a shouting match, but may the screaming voices be dulled soon so that the ears can listen and the hearts can connect.
