By Jackie Clark - The effects of mesothelioma and other kinds of cancers can be very painful and debilitating for patients. Traditional cancer treatments can unfortunately be just as harsh thanks to side effects such as muscle weakness, fatigue, nausea and difficulty sleeping. It is for this reason that more and more doctors are recommending alternative treatments such as Reiki and acupuncture to help cancer patients relieve some of their symptoms. These treatments are by no means meant to be a cure for mesothelioma or any other type of cancer, but by relieving some of the symptoms of the disease and its treatments they can improve a patient's quality of life. This is known as palliative therapy, and it can really make a big difference in the recovery of a cancer survivor.
